Ever since the first Ratchet & Clank video game debuted on the PlayStation 2, the series has always had a cinematic quality. Featuring the buddy team of Ratchet, the last of his species, and the kindly, rejected war-bot Clank in various missions across planets, the games are presented with an array of incredibly detailed cartoon worlds.
The film adapts the first of Ratchet and Clank’s adventures fairly faithfully, with the introduction of a few original characters, and some lore and characters borrowed from later games. Gamers may find themselves wishing for an original story featuring the characters, but should enjoy seeing familiar scenes in a new light. Those new to the characters will find an action-packed, yet heart-warming sci-fi tale.
Oddly, the film, based on a game, was also adapted into another game.
