Since the 1980s, the Silent Night, Deadly Night series has presented violent alternatives to the typical cinematic Yuletide fare. Focused on traumatic events taking place at Christmastime, most of the series revolves around the troubled Chapman brothers.
After witnessing the Christmas Eve murder of his parents by a criminal dressed as Santa Claus, Billy Chapman is separated from his infant brother and sent to an orphanage. Facing further abuse during his upbringing, Billy grows into a troubled young man, with little stopping him from tipping over the edge.
The first of the franchise’s sequels focuses on Billy’s brother, Ricky, recalling his own story and that of his brother to a psychiatrist. We learn that, though growing up in a different upbringing to his brother, Ricky has faced his own share of trauma.
