What kind of a dinner does $50,000 buy? The clue is in the title: a meal of human flesh, presented with a professionally-edited video documenting the final 24 hours of the victim, intended to produce residual earnings on the snuff film black market.
Presented in the style of a Japanese gore film, the Human Hibachi series is without a doubt not recommended viewing for everyone. The movies variously unravel the final hours of the victims of Jin (Wataru Nishida,) an opportunistic restaurateur seeking perverse criminal profits, lurid detail of the preparation of his meals and the serving of meat to his sadistic clientele, and later, fans of his original video (Frank Volpe and Nicholas Brennan,) extending to the levels of sycophantic worship.
That the Human Hibachi series found favour from Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Films likely speaks to the audience the films hope to attract. All three of Mario Cerrito’s exploitation-horror features, and the short film interlude, are available to watch free in Australia.
