Writer and director Damian McCarthy asks a lot of his viewers in his feature film debut, but those willing to suspend disbelief for 90 minutes will be rewarded with gothic intrigue.
In a soap operatic, high-concept plot, amnesiac Isaac (Johnny French) is hired by Moe (Ben Caplan) to watch over is orphaned niece, living alone on a deserted island. One of the titular caveats of the role stipulates that Isaac be chained to a leash-like harness which limits how far into the house he can go – specifically restricting him from either leaving or following Olga into her room.
One of the first films to be distributed in Australia as a ‘Shudder Original,’ Caveat is now available to stream free and legally, without ads.
