What I’d suspected may have been a cleaned-up remake of the 1980s sex comedy Zapped! was actually a presumably-made for TV batch of Disney silliness, which may appeal to young children.
Zendaya stars as Zoey, a girl whose life is thrown into disarray when her mother remarries and moves her in with three new stepbrothers, a dog, and sends her to a new school. The plot is fairly flimsy – an accident causes Zoey’s smartphone to give her the ability to control all males. It features storylines typical of Disney live action programming of the era – dance competitions, sports try-outs, and romantic misunderstandings. There are a few laughs, particularly in the opening, before the enchanted phone plot begins, and whilst the story is fairly predictable, it was inoffensive enough.
