Launched by the Special Broadcasting Service in 2011, SBS On Demand has since its inception featured the most comprehensive user-friendly experience of the local television streaming services. It has only improved in the years since, with support for almost all devices imaginable, starting with gaming consoles, followed by smart phones and tables, with wide compatibility today with almost all smart TV systems.
Boasting a ‘permanent’ library of over 1000 films, the catalogue is regularly updated with film and television to watch on replay, usually available for a short period depending on licencing. One of On Demand’s useful features is the inclusion of validity dates to show how long content will remain available. Like it’s television counterpart, On Demand shows a range of local and international content, with some episodic television available immediately in full upon release, and others updated week to week as they are broadcast on TV.
